Complex Lower Limb
KAFOs (Knee Ankle Foot Orthoses)
OA knee ankle foot orthosis (KAFO) is designed to support individuals with muscle weakness, paralysis, or joint instability by controlling the knee, ankle, and foot.
It improves alignment, stability, and safety during standing and walking.
Modern KAFO design has evolved significantly, with composite materials, 3D manufacturing techniques, and hybrid designs allowing improved control, reduced weight, and greater comfort.
In selected cases, stance control KAFOs allow knee flexion during swing phase while maintaining stability in stance phase.
Advanced systems such as the C-Brace provide microprocessor-controlled movement throughout the gait cycle to better replicate natural knee function.
