AFOs & Ankle Bracing

Ankle foot orthoses (AFOs) are commonly used in the management of conditions such as drop foot but extend to a wide range of neurological and orthopaedic presentations.

They provide control across all three planes of movement and can influence ground reaction forces throughout the gait cycle. Depending on presentation, they may assist or resist movement to improve gait efficiency and function.

Ankle bracing may also be used short or long term, often as part of rehabilitation or return to activity following injury.
