Specialist Orthotic Services

Severn Orthotics provides access to a range of advanced orthotic technologies for individuals with complex neurological and orthopaedic needs.

C-Brace – Severn Orthotics is certified to assess and trial Ottobock C-Brace technology, a microprocessor-controlled stance and swing phase orthosis. The system is designed to provide controlled knee stability and a more natural gait pattern throughout the walking cycle.

Stance Control Orthoses – A range of stance control knee-ankle-foot orthoses (KAFOs) that allow knee flexion during swing phase while maintaining stability in stance phase. These systems offer an alternative to traditional locked knee KAFOs, supporting more efficient and functional mobility.

Sensory Dynamic Orthosis (SDO) – Designed to provide dynamic compression and targeted reinforcement panels to enhance sensory input, proprioception, and musculoskeletal alignment. This can support improved postural control and movement stability.

Exopulse Suit – An advanced assistive technology designed to support the management of spasticity. The system delivers targeted electrical stimulation across multiple muscle groups and may be used in conditions such as cerebral palsy (CP), multiple sclerosis (MS), and stroke.

Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) – FES uses low-level electrical stimulation to activate specific muscle groups during movement. This can support gait, improve functional mobility, and reduce compensatory movement patterns. Please refer to the FES section for further information.

Contracture Management – Specialist orthotic solutions designed to help manage joint stiffness and soft tissue shortening. These devices aim to support positioning, maintain range of movement, and assist functional ability where possible.
